Este site reúne um acervo de imagens que testemunham as transformações, as exclamações e os momentos que marcam os dias de quem passa pelo muro da Faculdade de Belas Artes. A Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto tem duas barreiras com o espaço público. Um dos muros, com 8 metros de altura voltado para a Rua de S.Vítor, é um muro que separa dois mundos: a academia e a realidade. É um monólito de granito e betão que nos guia em direcção ao rio e aos limites da cidade. A segunda, na fachada principal, foco deste projeto, é um muro que marca a fronteira entre o edifício palaciano burguês do Porto e o pavilhão de arquitetura modernista. É um contino entre os limites fechados de um jardim romântico e o trânsito intenso que transborda na Avenida.

O conceito de graffiti como gesto anónimo e ilegal é um precedente que transformou a Humanidade desde que o homem teve a possibilidade de utilizar a escrita como meio de afirmação nos espaços construídos, particularmente nos espaços urbanos. Nesse sentido, e de forma mais enfática, as áreas limíte das escolas sempre tiveram maior frequência deste tipo de expressão no espaço público.

Ao longo das décadas, este muro testemunhou a história do país, desde os tempos da ditadura até ao pós-25 de Abril. O muro testemunha diversas expressões artísticas, desde tags, banners e murais até cartazes de manifestações, vernissages e festas. Estas são frequentemente apagadas pela Câmara Municipal do Porto. Aqui as mensagens passam de dentro para fora e vice-versa, expondo as aspirações ou mesmo os pensamentos mais íntimos de estudantes e não-estudantes.

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto has two barriers with the public space. One of the walls, 8 meters high facing S.Vítor Street, is a wall that separates two worlds: the academy and reality. It's a monolith of granite and concrete that guides us towards the river and the city limits. The second, on the main façade of the college, the focus of this project, is a wall that marks the boundary between the bourgeois palatial building of Porto and the modernist architecture pavilion. It's a continuum between the enclosed limits of a romantic garden and the bustling traffic overflowing onto the Avenue. The concept of graffiti as an anonymous and illegal gesture is a precedent that has transformed Humanity since man had the possibility to use writing as a means of assertion in constructed spaces, particularly in urban spaces. In this sense, and more emphatically, the areas bordering schools, colleges, and university spaces have always had a higher frequency of this type of expression in public spaces.

Over the decades, these walls have witnessed the history of the country, from the times of dictatorship to the post-April 25th era of freedom. The wall bears witness to various artistic expressions, from tags, banners, and murals to posters of demonstrations, vernissages, and parties. These are occasionally erased by the Porto municipalityl. Here, messages pass from inside to outside and vice versa, displaying the aspirations or even the most intimate thoughts of students and non-students.
